One creative idea is to incorporate project-based learning into your curriculum. Projects allow students to demonstrate their understanding of literary concepts in a hands-on and meaningful way. For example, you could have students create a podcast discussing themes in a novel they are reading, or put together a digital storytelling project to analyze characters and plot development. Another engaging idea is to incorporate technology into your lessons. Technology can be a powerful tool to enhance learning and keep students engaged. Consider using educational apps, online platforms, or multimedia resources to supplement your lessons. For instance, you could have students create digital storyboards to summarize key events in a text, or use online discussion forums to facilitate peer collaboration and critical thinking. Literature circles are also a great way to promote collaboration and active participation in the classroom. By organizing students into small groups and assigning different roles (such as discussion leader, summarizer, or connector), you can empower them to take ownership of their learning and engage in thoughtful discussions about the texts they are studying. Additionally, integrating real-world connections into your curriculum can make learning more relevant and meaningful for students. Consider incorporating current events, guest speakers, or field trips related to language arts topics to help students see the practical applications of what they are learning in the classroom. Overall, the key to creating an engaging 7th Grade Advanced Language Arts curriculum is to mix creativity, technology, collaboration, and real-world connections. By implementing these ideas into your lessons, you can inspire a love for language arts in your students and set them up for success in their academic journey. About Me:

I am joining SLA from Garden Elementary, where I have 20 years experience in education. My background includes classroom instruction, literacy and data coaching, and providing targeted reading and math instruction for students who need extra support. I'm passionate about literacy and I look forward to making a meaningful impact on students' reading growth this year!

I love calling Venice home where I live with my two dogs, husband, and two kids (Brayden and Isla). My favorite things include curling up with a good book, spending time with family and friends, laughing at a funny movie and traveling to new places!

I am so excited for the upcoming school year and getting to know all of my students!
